Microelectronic components for Extended virtual/augmented/mixed Reality

The project EXTREME (MicroElectronic components for EXTended REality) aims to contribute to the development of compact and highly efficient interfaces for extended reality (XR) which is an umbrella term that comprises virtual, augmented and mixed, physical and virtual, realities. This project leverages on our previous experience in the design of integrated vision systems in extremely demanding application scenarios like intelligent transportation, environmental monitoring, security, and the IoT (SEMIoTICs). Our collaborative efforts have taken us to the integration of image sensing and vision processing, using parallel architectures adapted to the nature of the visual stimulus and optimized networks for the efficient implementation of high-level inference, in contexts with restricted computational resources.
